This is Ajay Vishwakarma age 26 and I stay at Andheri East with my family. And my sister Sailee Pawar resides in Mira Road. Sailee feeds stray dogs approx 100 to 150 dogs everyday in Mira Road during lockdown and her work of feeding dogs inspired me. One day I got a call from my friend she was worried about the dogs in her area as she stays near industrial area and all the hotels were shut due to lockdown. Due to which there were no foods for the stray animals (dogs and cats) and they were dying due to hunger. So from that day I started feeding dogs and cats near my house and day by day I extend the area and everyday I started feeding 80 to 100 dogs and cats.
This story is about a stray dog in Mira Road who met with a car accident on June 21, 2020. This was a hit and run case and at that time Sailee was feeding her dogs in that area. Dogs lower jaw got stuck in car’s tyre rim and was broken very badly. The jaw was hanging on his skin. It was a very painful scenario. So Sailee and her friends took the dog on the footpath and given him first Aid. They took the dog to the clinic which was located in Mira Road and the vet estimated the cost for the surgery 18,000 to 20,000. Then I received call from Sailee and she informed me regarding this dog. We all were in shortage of money. So I raised a donation request and shared it with all my friends and contacts. In 1 day I received 15,000 rupees as donation for that dog with a transparent statement. I requested all my contacts to help us to him cure. And guess what… the operation was successful and it took approx 12, 15 days to recover for that dog. We named him SHERU. As he was very brave and very cooperative. I would like to thank all those wo have supported us. After the operation we kept Sheru in a foster and provided them with medicine and food. After full recovery Sheru was able to eat and drink. And during foster Sheru couldn’t eat anything but slowly he started eating food. He was only on liquid for 20 days.
